Olivier Giroud: Alexis Sanchez and I are different types of Attackers

Arsenal and Manchester United are set to meet once against at Old Trafford for the 224th time. Ahead of the Premier League derby which many football analysts are calling a ‘clash of the titans’, French striker Olivier Giroud has argued that his place in the team is not under any threat as rumors have it.

The 30-year-old who was sidelined by injury earlier this season, has vowed that he’s bouncing back with surprises.

Alexis Sanchez has been the favorite in Arsene Wenger’s squad since proving himself a nightmare to defenders and goalkeepers. The Chile international footballer has scored eight times this season.

However, with the Chilean suffering hamstring while on international duty, Giroud says he will come back and fight for his rightful place as Wenger’s hitman in the front row.

The Frenchman has struck from the sidelines since returning to the squad, and in his recent interview with a French TV, Telefoot, the striker discarded rumors that he was leaving the Emirates Stadium.

In his words: “I do not have any doubts about my future at Arsenal.

“There is always competition for places. There are a lot of attackers at every big club.

“At the moment, the coach prefers Sanchez up front, also because I have been injured. I just hope to get playing time again now. Alexis and I are different types of attackers and the coach has to make a decision.

“But I intend to come back even stronger.”

Arsenal is currently fourth in the Premier League table while Manchester United are sixth.

It will surely be a tough trip to Old Trafford but the Gunners are optimistic, having kept a clean slate since the opening day of the 2016/2017 Premier League season.
