Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho Could Be Banned For 2 Years.

Liverpool’s defender, Mamadou Sakho has been the center of recent Premier League football controversies as he could be banned from football for a minimum period of years.

The player admitted he digested a fat burning product to enhance his physique but was unaware the supplement contained a banned substance. He has, in this regard, accepted the mistake but asked to be heard before the trial so he could tender his evidence which might prove him innocent and maybe, ignorant (if ignorance is pardonable is such cases).

The WADA code says the sentence is highly likely to be reduced because of the nature of the substance, and he is more likely to face a six-month ban.

It is possible that his suspension would start from last weekend since he has shown readiness to accept the result.

Mamadou Sakho will therefore, miss Liverpool’s semi-final Europa League first-leg match. The team has already traveled to Villarreal for the showdown with the defender excluded.

Sakho failed a routine drugs test after the Europa game at Manchester United which is punishable under UEFA’s doping violation charter.

The football authority gave him Tuesday to request a test of the B sample after the initial sample tested positive for a substance on WADA’s banned list, and also provide an explanation to the European governing body.

He remains suspended until a final decision is reached by the football governing body .
