Emotional love note from Rasual Butler to Leah LaBelle

Although death is an ultimate end for all mortals, its uncertainty highlights the need for everyone to love wholeheartedly and be loved in return.

Earlier on Wednesday, Rasual Butler, the 38-year-old basketball player who played for Miami Heats, lost control of his speeding Range Rover vehicle and died together with his wife Leah LaBelle.

Coroner’s assistant chief Ed Winter said Rasual died at the scene.

After the early morning crash in Southern California, police said they were yet to confirm the identity of a fatally injured woman travelling with the American hoopster.

LaBelle was later confirmed to be a Canadian-born singer who contested on the reality television show ‘American Idol’ in 2004.

‘The LA Clippers are deeply saddened by the loss of Rasual Butler and his wife, Leah LaBelle,’ the team said in an official statement.

‘Rasual will long be remembered not only for his accomplishments on the court, but for his vibrant personality, positive outlook and the compassion he had for everyone around him.’

Singer Jojo wrote on Instagram, ‘That SMILE. That VOICE. That inside-out GLOW. My @leahlabelle. My sister. Woke up this morning and heard you were gone. This can’t be real.

‘And you and @rasualbutler8 ‘s relationship was SUCH A BEAUTIFUL LOVE TO WITNESS AND FEEL. Best friends, believers, partners. A love that survived so much. We want and need more from you both. I cannot accept that the two of you are gone.

‘Leah, you are my sister. I love you. and I feel so fortunate that you were in my life. Sing with the angels in heaven. You were an angel on earth,’ she added.
