Will Antoine Griezmann Stay At Atletico Madrid?

Antoine Griezmann says he’s happy with Atletico Madrid and has revealed his hopes for a better future with the highly rated Spanish giant club.

He confirmed in a statement that the club’s management is “very close” to extending his contract. In his words: “I’m fine at Atletico. I’m close to renewing my contract. We’re on the right path.”

The French footballer scored his 32nd goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Celta Vigo.

Griezmann is part of the reasons why Atletico Madrid finished third in La Liga ranks for 2015/2016 season so it would be a compliment to see his value increase at the club.

As a matter of fact, the Spanish club is keen on rewarding the Frenchman with improved terms to keep his services. The player’s contract expires in 2020.

Antonio Griezmann will feature for France at Euro 2016 as Les Bleus fight for the crown. The talented player had a chat with Canal+ and spoke about the Champions League finals coming up May 28.

In his words, the striker said: “I hope I can finish the season by winning the Champions League and then the European Championship. That’d make me very happy.

“[The CL final] will be a great match. It’ll be my first Champions League final and I hope to win it.

“I hope to lift the trophy and have a good game.”

Atletico Madrid is reportedly planning to implement a €100m buyout clause in Griezmann’s new deal.

  1. He will surely stay because that’s where he rightly belongs. Athleti made him what he is. Going to any other club will be for money and he may not have the chance to develop as he did in Spain.
