Over 1.2 million infected with the coronavirus – John Hopkins University

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 have exceeded 1.2 million globally, with the death toll over 69,000, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Here is what we know so far:

The Chinese mainland’s total number of cases has reached 81,708, including 951 cases that have come from abroad.

In addition, a total of 1,047 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation.

The death toll in the Asian country stands at 3,340 (3,331 from the Chinese mainland, four from the Hong Kong SAR and five from Taiwan region).

China mourned COVID-19 victims on Saturday. Wuhan will lift outbound travel restrictions starting Wednesday after over two months of lockdown.

The U.S. has over 330,000 COVID-19 infections. The death toll has surpassed 9,000. President Donald Trump has extended social distancing guidelines to April 30.

Spain‘s coronavirus death toll slows further on Monday, as 637 patients died overnight, taking the total to 13,055.

UK‘s Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to the hospital for tests after days of coronavirus symptoms.
