Abdulraqib Fat’h, the Minister of Local Administration and the Chairman of the Yemeni Higher Relief Committee has called on the international community, in general, and the United Nations, in particular, to shoulder their full responsibilities towards mounting suffering of the Yemeni people, in governorates under the Houthi control.
The Yemeni minister said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency today that the threat of the so-called Head of the Political Council of the militias loyal to the coup d’état, to cut off international navigation in the Red Sea is wrong.
During the meeting which was held with the Vice Special Envoy to Yemen, Fat’h the defiance is an open and flagrant challenge to international and humanitarian laws, especially the United Nations.
The Red Sea is a rich and diverse ecosystem with more than 1200 species of fish. Around 10% of these are found nowhere else. This also includes 42 species of deepwater fish.
Coastal reefs in the Red Sea are also visited by pelagic species of Red Sea fish, including some of the 44 species of shark.
