Hackers hijacked a billboard in Indonesia, played porn video for 5 minutes

Seems like hackers in this 21st Century are getting tired of taking away millions from banks and companies. Sometimes they just want to have fun and prove what they’re capable of doing.

A report from Metro confirms a large billboard on one of Jakarta’s roads in Indonesia was recently hacked. Why hack a billboard when you can’t siphon money from the screen?

The cyber criminals thought it was wrong for the government to ban adult movies in the country, so they gave a public show to the amazement of onlookers who enjoyed every second of it.

The billboard measuring around 24 square meters with an LED screed was said to be located very close to the South Jakarta mayor’s office.

It took 5 minutes for the adult movie to stop displaying on the screen after the management shut down its power source.

Probably as a test run for some bigger hacks that may shock the country, the cyber criminals sounded out a warning with the free sex education course.

Hackers have done this as a punishment to ISIS when the jihadis’ social media accounts were hijacked and had porn pictures posted on them.

Though it’s not clear how exactly the porn video started playing on Jakarta’s billboard, one thing worth knowing is that adult videos are illegal in Indonesia. The country is Muslim-dominated and regarded as the “world’s most populous Muslim country”.

Was it possible that someone was watching porn on the computer system and mistakenly displayed it on the billboard? That’s a question yet to be answered.

Adrian Wiedarta, manager of the billboard, told Kompas that the computer system was infected with a virus, adding that staff were logged off after the hacker changed its password.

All the same, a group of drivers reportedly stopped by the roadside to enjoy such a rare erotic show. “It eased off the stress from a hard day’s job,” a commenter wrote about the once in a lifetime occurrence, according to a report.

Jakarta Post says the police are treating it as intentional.

Pete Cronin, the USAID Education Foreign Service Officer working in Indonesia, wrote: ‘Oh Jakarta, you never cease to amaze me.’

Oh Jakarta, you never cease to amaze me.
