The England international footballer who also captains the national team released a statement in this regard, assuring fans that those speculations on a move to China are false.

“Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I’m grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United,” the club’s highest goal scorer declared.

“I hope I will play a full part in helping the team in its fight for success on four fronts.

“It’s an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part of it.”

At 31, Wayne has lost speed and cannot become another Ryan Giggs as Sir Alex Ferguson rightly said. So who would want to buy the deep-lying playmaker whose value in the transfer market seem to be dropping large chunks every week?

Definitely not clubs like Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. PSG, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid are all out from the options, too.

Although football analysts believe an Italian club might be the right place for Rooney, places like the Middle East, the United States and China may even provide mouth-watering offers for the famous goal scorer.

But more likely a move to China would simply be retirement deferred, a means of extending his earning power. That is a matter for him and his financial advisers; in terms of legacy and how he will be remembered, Rooney is essentially done – The Guardian.
