Orion’s toilet ‘absolutely still go for number two’

NASA’s top team have been receiving questions from the media at a press briefing, the first one centred on toilet trouble.

Orion’s toilet is “absolutely still go for number two,” and will still “technically work for number one,” says Judd Frieling, Artemis II’s flight director.

Astronauts are being told not to use the toilet except for faecal use as the team wants to keep the tanks half full until they’ve figured out what’s causing the issue.

This morning, the waste water tank was 64% full, but liquid levels have been reduced by at least 15% since then.

Each crew member has two collapsible urinals, which can be vented overboard.
