Smoke seen in Beirut as Israel launches fresh strikes

Pictures coming through this afternoon show large smoke clouds rising across the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital, Beirut.

It comes as the Israeli Defence Forces said it had begun a new wave of strikes targeting Hezbollah terror infrastructure in the city in the last hour.

Broadcaster Al Jazeera reported a loud air strike in the southern part of Beirut, while warplanes could be heard flying low over the city.
