Marco Silva: Club on same page about Fulham’s clear transfer needs

Marco Silva says he and the Fulham board are on the same page and it’s clear what his side need in terms of transfers.

Tom Cairney scored to rescue a Fulham point at Crystal Palace with Silva naming an unchanged starting 11.

The Cottagers travelled without an injured Josh King while they are also dealing with AFCON absentees, with Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze.

Asked about whether he expects any imminent deals after the game, Silva said:

“So far, I didn’t receive any feedback from the board that it’s something close or very close.

“We are working as a football club. We are on the same page. It’s clear what we need, and the squad is short in terms of numbers, absences, the African Cup and all that stuff.

“My focus is clearly on the players, the way they have been reacting, the way we as a squad have been adjusting for this type of situation. All the players are completely committed with ourselves, with the football club. It doesn’t matter if we have five or six young players on the bench.

“If we have more or less solutions, the reality is that we as a team are showing how we can be competitive, how we can come away from home and fight for the win until the end, if you can do it or not.

“Let’s see what’s going to happen from now until the end. Of course, we all expect to have players quickly, but I cannot assure you that it’s going to happen.”
