Tottenham players are facing wage cuts if the club suffer Premier League relegation, according to The Athletic.
It is claimed that clauses are written into their contracts, which include mandatory salary reductions, with the vast majority seeing their earnings slashed by around 50 per cent.
The report says the agreements were sorted before Daniel Levy’s exit as chairman in September, granting Spurs an element of protection against demotion.
Spurs lost 2-1 at Fulham on Sunday to leave them 16th in the table and just four points above the drop zone.
The defeat heightens the possibility of Tottenham losing their ever-present Premier League status and dropping into the second tier for the first time in 49 years.
New boss Igor Tudor has suffered defeats in his first two games in charge and will look to pick up his first points on Thursday as Spurs host Crystal Palace.
