Several drones downed over Crimea and Russian soil

Ukraine appears to be continuing its drone assault over the Black Sea and the Crimean peninsula, as well as on Russian soil – that’s according to the Russian ministry of defence.

In the last half an hour, the MoD reported “four unmanned aerial vehicles over the northwestern part of the Black Sea and over the territory of the Republic of Crimea”, according to a statement on Telegram

In a separate update, it then noted that a further two drones had been downed over Kursk, and two more over the territory of the Bryansk region.

Kursk’s governor said the drones damaged several private houses, while the head of Bryansk said the drones downed there caused no damage.

The Russian-installed head of Crimea has not yet noted any attacks on his social media.

The reports have not been verified and Ukraine has not claimed any responsibility.

Russia launches overnight air attack on Odesa, says Ukrainian official

One woman was injured and port infrastructure was damaged in an overnight missile and drone attack, Oleh Kiper, governor of the Odesa region in southern Ukraine, has said.

A fire broke out in a non-residential high-rise in the city
of Odesa as a result of the attack but was promptly extinguished, Mr Kiper wrote on Telegram.

Reuters could not independently verify the report.

The scale of the attack and the extent of the damage are not immediately known.

People leave en masse for Armenia

We reported earlier that Russian peacekeepers had escorted 311 refugees from Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia (see post at 7.47pm).

More are expected to follow after a 10-month blockade and a military offensive this month that resulted in Azerbaijan reclaiming full control of the breakaway region.

With 2,000 peacekeepers in the region, Russia has said that under the terms of the ceasefire six armoured vehicles, more than 800 small arms, anti-tank weapons and portable air defence systems, as well as 22,000 ammunition rounds, had been handed in.

These images show dozens of cars driving out of the city of Stepanakert in the breakaway region following the military operation.
