It was a “productive week” for Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said in his late night address.
The Ukrainian leader said defence packages from the US and Canada would be “very much needed at the front” and he had agreed on their production and supply.
“There is a historic decision by the US to jointly produce weapons and defence systems,” he said.
He went on to say the country had a “clear perspective of a new resilience” that would prevent the recurrence of Russian aggression.
“In general, many morally robust and important positions were voiced at different levels in the US – from the top level to all those involved in negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation,” he added.
“The same is true for Canada. There is a clear unity. There are new sanctions against Russia, and there will be even more sanctions pressure.”
Operationally things going ‘very well’ for Ukrainians
Operationally things are going “very well” for the Ukrainians, former British military intelligence and security officer Philip Ingram has said.
He said Ukrainian intelligence was saying they had penetrated through Russian defensive lines in the village of Verbove.
“It is significant as they get through these front defensive lines and are managing to get armoured vehicles through them,” he said.
Mr Ingram went on to say operationally it was going “very well for the Ukrainians”.
