Pride Parade: Over 500 expected at the Glasgow event

A total of 500 participants are expected in Glasgow’s annual Gay Pride events.

The parade is scheduled to kick off at Glasgow Green this weekend.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will address the audience to mark this year’s celebrations.

“It will be a privilege to be the first serving First Minister to speak at Pride. See you on Saturday,” Sturgeon wrote in a Twitter message last Wednesday.

The 2-day event, Pride Glasgow, will hold at Glasgow Green on Saturday and Sunday; it has been described by the organizers as Scotland’s largest LGBTI festival.

Participants are expected to march through the city center, decorated in colorful costumes, flags, fliers and dancing to a variety of tunes.

Over 50,000 spectators will watch the proceedings on their streets, including Merchant areas, all the way to Glasgow Green.
