Ibrahima Konate is on the verge of signing a new Liverpool contract, according to French outlet L’Equipe, with only “a few details left to iron out” over an agreement.
The 26-year-old’s existing deal at Anfield is set to expire this summer, while head coach Arne Slot told Sky Sports News in February that discussions were ongoing over an extension.
Now L’Equipe says the club and player have “never been closer” to agreeing his stay, and adds Konate wants a decision made “in the coming weeks” so his future is decided before the World Cup starts in June.
