Transfer: Frank speaks on Spurs January plans; Port Vale terminate Moore’s contract

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has suggested to Sky Sports the club will be active in the January transfer window.

Spurs have had an up and down first half to the season and sit 11th in the Premier League table after winning 1-0 at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

With the transfer window soon to open, Frank was asked whether he would be looking to strengthen his squad to achieve more consistent performances in the remainder of the campaign.

“Of course the window will open and we will be in the market and see if there’s anything we can do,” he said.

“But it needs to be something where we think it can clearly improve the team, if not I’d rather want to wait.

“But we will be out there.”

Moore sacked by Port Vale

League One’s bottom club Port Vale have sacked head coach Darren Moore.

Vale are seven points adrift at the foot of the table after being thrashed 5-0 by Huddersfield Town on Friday.

Seven defeats in nine has left them 10 points from safety in League One just 21 games into the season.

Moore took Vale down to League Two after being appointed mid-season in February 2024 on a five-and-a-half-year contract but brought them back up straight away.

However, he has once again struggled for results in League One and Vale have taken the “difficult decision” to let him go.

The club said “now is the right moment to make a change” in a statement.

“We have given the situation time and support to ensure we were doing everything to give this project the best possible chance of success, and while we truly hoped it would turn, we must act in what we believe is the best long-term interest of Port Vale.”

Moore said he was “sorry” in a parting message to fans.

“It has been a real privilege to manage Port Vale and to represent such a proud football club,” he wrote.

“I hope everyone connected to the club knows that I gave my very best and I wish the club nothing but success for the future. I will be supporting you from afar.”
