From a purple-lit Madison Square Garden to a star-studded guest list of 1,000, the couple’s long-awaited nuptials delivered a celebration befitting a pop culture phenomenon.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially married — and they announced it to the world in true Swiftian fashion.
Billboards outside Madison Square Garden lit up in purple with the message “JUST&T MARRIED,” while the Empire State Building glowed blue in their honor. Then, fittingly, a rainstorm began.
The milestone marks a new era for the couple, whose romance played out in the public eye — until they threw a wedding shrouded in secrecy, thanks to reportedly ironclad non-disclosure agreements and TSA-level security.
A Ceremony ‘Like a Garden Inside the Garden’
Leading up to the big day, which began Thursday evening with a rehearsal event for about 100 attendees, few guests would even confirm they were invited — and even fewer confirmed they would attend.
Instead of a traditional bridal party, Swift’s brother Austin served as her “man of honor,” while Kelce’s brother Jason acted as his “best man,” according to a statement from Swift’s representative issued alongside the billboard messages. The bride and groom both wore custom Christian Dior looks designed by Jonathan Anderson.
The couple’s friend Adam Sandler served as officiant. “The ceremony was great, moving. Adam Sandler, funny and touching. Vows, everything you would hope for — real, vulnerable, serious and silly, deeply loving,” “Good Morning America” anchor George Stephanopoulos, who attended with co-anchors Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan, told ABC News. Roberts and Stephanopoulos said the couple wrote their own vows in “little books.”
Stephanopoulos described the scene as “a garden inside the Garden.” A photo shared by personal trainer Rob Jordan and his wife Joann offered a first glimpse inside: the couple holding hands as they walked up an orangey carpeted staircase. Joann Jordan told CNN their phones were taken at check-in.
The apparent orange color was the subject of a massive marketing campaign surrounding Swift’s 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Stevie Nicks was among the evening’s performers, Roberts confirmed. Asked about the performances, Jay Marciano, CEO of AEG Presents, told Reuters there were “big ones.” The highlight? “Too many. All of them,” he said.
Guests appear to have taken home a handkerchief embroidered with “T&T,” the date, “New York City,” and the “Blank Space” lyric, “So it’s gonna be forever …”
A Guest List of 1,000 — and a Few Surprises
Watching arrivals at MSG, where Swift has performed eight times in her 20-year career, was like watching the Grammys, Oscars and ESPY Awards combined.
The Hollywood contingent included Steven Spielberg, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Eric Stonestreet and Hugh Grant. Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Lopez, Graham Norton, Jimmy Fallon and Zoe Kravitz were also spotted. Swift’s close friend Selena Gomez posted a photo wearing a fitted, beaded golden gown — the same color Swift wore for Gomez’s wedding last September.
Sports figures included NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, sportscaster Erin Andrews and several Kansas City Chiefs players. The music industry was heavily represented with Gwen Stefani, Fergie, the Chainsmokers, Miranda Lambert, Camila Cabello and Benson Boone, among others. Ed Sheeran, Mariska Hargitay, Lena Dunham, Karlie Kloss, Jessica Alba and Chris Rock also scored invites.
“It’s hard to imagine that a place that big and a wedding with such stars could feel so personal and so intimate,” Stephanopoulos said. “Because they had their neighbors, their high school friends — it was like any wedding that you would attend,” Roberts added.
A permit stated the reception would run until 2 a.m., but some guests were seen leaving before 10 p.m., with Spielberg, Alba, Strahan, Tom Brady and Swift collaborator Max Martin departing before midnight.
Fans Celebrate Worldwide
For Swifties, the big day was a cause for celebration. Crowds gathered behind barricades outside MSG. Alison Hagen, a 24-year-old actress who gives Taylor Swift-themed walking tours in New York, said the relationship has kickstarted “a very hopeful time for all of us Taylor Swift fans.”
“I don’t know her, but I feel very happy for her,” Hagen said. “She seems genuinely very happy.”
Fans as far afield as Malaysia and Thailand hosted bachelorette-style parties in honor of the wedding. In Vienna, teacher Lex Dimitrijevic, who is also getting married this summer, said the celebrations feel “especially meaningful.” “Our lives are completely different, but reaching a similar milestone makes it feel wonderfully full circle,” she said. “Whether it was the Eras Tour, her reclaiming her music, or now this new chapter, fans genuinely want to see someone who has brought so much happiness to others find happiness herself.”
A ‘Love Story’ for the Ages
Swift and Kelce started dating in 2023, after Kelce vented on his “New Heights” podcast about failing to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number at her Kansas City Eras Tour stop. Swift later called the move “metal as hell.”
The couple announced their engagement in August with concurrent Instagram posts: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Swift has written several songs believed to be about Kelce, including tracks on “The Life of a Showgirl” and “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Whatever happens next, the Kelce-Swift union has been a masterclass in throwing a huge party that may not be discreet — but certainly has style.
