Sergio Aguero admits £357m is an outrageous fee for Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick against Ecuador to guarantee Argentina a spot in next year’s World Cup tournament, and the Barcelona ace is reportedly getting a £357m bid from Manchester City – a fee which his compatriot and best friend Sergio Aguero considers outrageous.

Manchester City are leading the 2017-18 English Premier League chart with 19 points after 7 games and need Messi’s amazing skills to ensure a successful campaign.

However, Aguero admits he would love to play alongside his friend and national team captain but says a £357m price tag sounds like a daydream.

The transfer fee amount would topple both Paul Pogba and Neymar’s world-record fees paid by Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

‘Leaving Barcelona, his boyhood club, would be quite complicated,’ Aguero said in the aftermath of Andres Iniesta’s “lifetime” contract with La Blaugranas.

Speculations in the football world have it that Messi will likely play at the Etihad in January with his contract set to expire at the end of this season.

Barcelona have maintained their stand that a deal has been struck with Messi’s agents but media reports say the famous No. 10 is yet to sign the alleged contract.

In Aguero’s opinion, having his fellow Argentine in Pep Guardiola‘s starting XI would be a dream come true. He also explained that the problem with Messi’s swith to the EPL isn’t money but how to break the star’s allegiance to Barca.

‘The problem is not money at all,’ said Aguero. ‘We all know Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo see themselves as models for their clubs. It will be difficult for any of them to leave.

‘It’s true that I’d love to play alongside Leo, but the situation is quite complicated.’

Manchester City will play against Stoke City on Saturday 14 October, 2017.
