Given my background as an undergraduate student of Mathematics & Economics at the University of California, San Diego, and some practical experience garnered from the Chinese banking sector, I am fully aware of the challenges facing modern day financial services, a knowledge which fueled my desire to make meaningful contributions in the field’s development by becoming a professional finance administrator.

My educational aspirations consist of acquiring a master’s degree in the field of Financial Economics that would assist me in achieving my career dreams of acquiring a higher-level knowledge in the most effective, efficient and modernized approaches that proffer lasting solutions to the industry’s numerous problems which include: macroeconomics risk; tightening regulatory requirements; political interference; technology risk; and criminality, among others. While I am determined to be part of the recognized problem-solvers on the world stage, I am aware that only an advanced study in a reputable university would guarantee a fulfilled ambition.

I am confident to graduate with honor in June 2018. Currently, I have multiple Provost Honors and my keener interest in the field was developed during my first and second internship programs at China Merchant’s Bank and WanLian Securities between June 2015 – September 2015 and July 2017 – September 2017 respectively. In the first job, I satisfactorily analysed different investment preferences for clients and proffered workable solutions by recommending different portfolios in sync with then current market trends. The open communication line and feedback channels greatly improved my understanding of the profession and aided my interpersonal/communication skills which are characteristic of a professional finance administrator. I also played an advisory role to my investment manager in the sale of different financial products to potential customers; a total sale of 500,000 RMB was tallied to my name, and as part of other rewarding contributions, I received a confidence-boosting offer of a full-time job after scaling through a top 5% ranking.

At WanLian Securities, I was at the frontline of the house’ issuance of 50 million U.S. dollars bonds to Sihui Rural Commercial Bank. This company provided me with a variety of statistical learning methods and productive practical experiences which solidified my resolve to take up a course in Financial Economics.

My passion as a servant-leader has always been to assist others, improve people’s lives, and play a part in developing the finance sector; this was also evident in my position as a Publicity Department Minster for the Chinese Union at UCSD (Jan. 2016 to Jun. 2017). Apart from organizing oral and written competitions to benefit members, one our annual events, Singing Competition & Chinese Night Market, raked in a revenue of $15,000 in one night.

I know that my ambitions will remain mere dreams if I do not complete a master’s degree program, therefore, I am committed to working hard in school and looking for opportunities that could help me make these goals a reality.
