Rep. Kevin Kiley Urges Trump to Approve Bipartisan Housing Bill, Says Measure Will Expand Homeownership

Republican Congressman Kevin Kiley has called on President Donald Trump to approve the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, arguing that the legislation would help ease America’s housing affordability crisis and create more opportunities for families to own homes.

Speaking during an interview on Newsmax, Kiley praised the bill as one of the most significant housing reforms in decades and expressed confidence that it would eventually become law.

He said:

“This is the most significant housing legislation that Congress has passed in a generation, and I believe the President will sign it.”

Kiley argued that the legislation would remove unnecessary regulatory barriers, encourage new housing construction and make it easier for developers to increase the supply of affordable homes.

He added:

“The bill is all about increasing housing supply, cutting red tape and making homeownership more attainable for American families.”

The California lawmaker also said the measure would benefit first-time homebuyers by helping address the housing shortage that has contributed to rising home prices across the United States.

According to Kiley:

“If we want prices to come down, we have to build more homes. This legislation takes meaningful steps toward achieving that goal.”

The legislation received overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress, passing the Senate by an 85-5 vote and the House of Representatives by a 358-32 margin. However, President Trump postponed a planned signing ceremony, saying he wanted Congress to first pass the SAVE AMERICA ACT, which he described as a legislative priority.

Despite the delay, Kiley expressed optimism that the housing bill would ultimately become law.

He stated:

“I’m very optimistic that this bill is going to become law because it has such broad bipartisan support and addresses an issue that affects families across the country.”

Housing advocates say the legislation could help increase the supply of affordable homes by streamlining approval processes, easing some federal regulations and promoting residential construction. While supporters believe the reforms could improve affordability over time, analysts note that the impact on housing prices will likely take years to become fully evident.
