The price of a PlayStation 5 will rise by £90 this week, Sony has announced.

The console’s recommended retail price will be £569.99, up from £479.99, as of this Thursday (2 April). 

The digital edition and the pro version of the console will also go up in price to £519.99 and £789.99, respectively. 

This is up from £429.99 and £699.99. 

In a statement, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president of global marketing Isabelle Tomatis said “pressures in the global economic landscape” were to blame. 

“We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide,” she said.
