NFL Star Tyreek Hill Ordered to Pay Ex-Wife Keeta Vaccaro $500,000 Following Civil Battery Verdict

NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been ordered to pay his ex-wife, Keeta Vaccaro, $500,000 after a Florida jury found him liable on two counts of civil battery, according to Defector Media reporter Diana Moskovitz.

The jury ruled against the former Miami Dolphins player on two battery claims while rejecting the remaining allegations in the case. Vaccaro was awarded $500,000 in compensatory damages, but the jury declined to impose punitive damages.

The verdict stems from a civil lawsuit related to allegations Vaccaro had previously raised during the couple’s divorce proceedings. Under Florida law, civil battery claims must be proven by a “preponderance of the evidence,” meaning the alleged conduct more likely occurred than not. Punitive damages, however, require “clear and convincing evidence” of intentional misconduct or gross negligence under Florida Statute 768.72.

The jury’s decision means Hill faces financial liability without additional punitive damages, and the findings do not amount to a criminal conviction.

What the Verdict Means for Hill’s NFL Future

The outcome could complicate Hill’s playing career, as the NFL continues reviewing the allegations under its Personal Conduct Policy. Although jurors found Hill liable for two incidents, the league must carry out its own assessment before deciding whether discipline is warranted.

A civil verdict does not automatically trigger a suspension or fine. League officials are required to follow the investigative and disciplinary procedures set out through collective bargaining. The NFL may also examine allegations that jurors rejected, since its disciplinary process operates independently of civil litigation.

Hill’s legal troubles could also affect interest from teams considering signing the veteran receiver. Prospective teams may weigh the financial judgment, possible NFL punishment and public scrutiny when evaluating his availability.

The $500,000 award marks a significant legal setback for Hill, who remains subject to possible league discipline. Neither the jury’s rejection of additional claims nor its decision against punitive damages shields him from further NFL scrutiny. For now, Hill faces a substantial civil judgment as questions about his professional future remain unresolved.
