Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar Jr. was reportedly very close to completing a deal with Manchester United during the last summer transfer window which ended August 31.
The star who won an Olympic gold medal with Brazil men’s soccer team in Rio, was also said to have received a £33.9million (€40m) offer from French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
It was a very close call for United and PSG before the Brazil captain signed an extended deal with Barca, squashing all hopes of leaving Camp Nou.
Neymar signed a new deal that will keep him with the Catalan giants until 2021.
Football agent Wagner Ribeiro has revealed Neymar opted to take less money and stay with Barcelona though there are speculations “that the talented player was convinced he’ll be the next big star once Messi leaves”.
‘He was close to joining PSG,’ Ribeiro told ESPN Brazil.
‘He would have earned €40m a year net.
‘Neymar was also close to a spell at Manchester United, but he extended his contract to earn less at Barcelona because he wanted to stay at Barcelona.’
