New mandatory evacuation order issued – LAPD to arrest curfew breakers

A new mandatory evacuation order has been issued for the Palisades fire.

It covers Sunset Boulevard North to Encino Reservoir; and from the 405 Freeway West to Mandeville Canyon.

The area was previously under an evacuation warning, but it’s been upgraded and people must leave immediately.

LA Fire Department put out this updated map of the evacuation zones.

Police say curfew breakers will be arrested – as they warn of ‘toxic’ items

LA police chief Jim McDonnell has said anyone flouting a curfew in evacuation zones will be arrested and face a fine and possible jail time.

He said the 6pm to 6am curfew is to protect against looters and allow emergency workers to their job without hindrance.

Mr McDonnell said fire resources were coming in from all over the US and that the National Guard is helping with traffic control and manning checkpoints in some areas.

He also warned anyone returning to fire-damaged properties to be careful as some household items can become toxic after being burnt.
