Muslims have performed Eid al Fitr prayers in Jerusalem to mark the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Hundreds attended the prayers at the Al Aqsa mosque compound, the third holiest site in Islam.
Israel will retaliate if Iran attacks from its territory, foreign minister warns
Foreign minister Israel Katz has responded after Iran said Israel “must be punished” for an apparent attack on its consulate building in Syria.
Earlier, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the “evil regime” of Israel “shall be” punished for the deadly attack, which Israel has not commented on (see 6.33 post).
In a post to X addressing Mr Ali Khamenei, Mr Katz said: “If Iran attacks from its own territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran.”
