Israeli police force elderly woman into van – as protesters block major roads in Tel Aviv

Protesters are continuing to block major roads and junctions in central Tel Aviv. We watched police arrest an elderly women – it took at least five of them to force her into the van.

Police have now lined the road outside the defence ministry to push protesters back, but there is a stand-off.

The police tactics have been pretty calm so far, it has to be said, but now the general strike is over, they might decide on heavier action to clear the city’s streets.

Protests planned outside Netanyahu’s residences

The families of the remaining Gaza hostages are asking people to protest outside Benjamin Netanyahu’s residences later today.

At 7pm (5pm UK), the Hostages Families Forum is calling on people to gather outside the prime minister’s official residence in Jerusalem and his private home in Caesarea.

Describing it as a “large-scale demonstration”, the group adds in a post on X: “Today, the hostages’ families once again urge the public to leave the comfort of their homes and take the streets.

“They call on everyone to continue the fight alongside them for a deal to bring all hostages home.”
