Movies: The Legend of Tarzan Hits China July 19.

The long awaited series, Legend of Tarzan [a movie which combines action, romance and CGI animals] is reportedly, ready to wow Chinese movie lovers as theaters prepare for its launch July 19th.

Alexander Skarsgard, who portrays the king of the jungle in the movie, has just arrived Beijing ahead of the scheduled film promotion. He had a brief chat with the press and said: “It’s an opportunity to be so immersed in the jungle and to follow Tarzan and Jane and a group of apes among other characters on its adventure.

“And it’s something that wouldn’t be possible to do in just a couple years ago, so it’s fun to take an iconic character like Tarzan and Jane that everyone has an idea who they are and then follow them on this adventure.

“I just hope people would like it.”

The Legend of Tarzan is set after Tarzan had left the jungles of Africa for years and live with his beloved wife. But he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of the parliament.

He was actually unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge.

Margot Robbie, an Australian actress, born in 1990, acts as Tarzan’s wife. Margot recently arrived in Beijing with Alexander Skarsgard.

“So Jane first encountered Alex’s character, John Tarzan when (they were) teenagers. He saved her life. She knows how he grew up and she knows what he is capable of. 

“Yeah, she is completely confident that he is not only capable of saving himself but anyone else he really wants to.”

Foreign media reports Tarzan has made an approximate total of 135 million US dollars worldwide in box office earnings last weekend. Will its landing into China further boost its box office? Let us wait and see on next Tuesday on July 19th.

The Legend of Tarzan is a 2016 American action adventure film based on the fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Directed by David Yates and written by Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer.

The film stars Alexander Skarsgård as the title character, with Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Djimon Hounsou, Jim Broadbent and Christoph Waltz in supporting roles.

Principal photography began on June 21, 2014, at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom, and wrapped four months later on October 3.

The movie has since been released in the United States on July 3, 2016, in 2D, 3D, IMAX and IMAX 3D.

Though thee film received mixed reviews and has grossed over $145 million, even critics belief it’s doing great at the box office so far.
