‘Missing’ dissident transferred to new penal colony – Report

A Russian-British dissident who apparently vanished from the Siberian penal colony where he was being held has been transferred to another site in region, according to a report.

Vladimir Kara-Murza had been in solitary confinement in a maximum-security penal colony in Omsk for the past four months, but his wife said yesterday that he had been moved to an unknown location.

Independent outlet Novaya Gazeta Europe has now cited Mr Kara-Murza’s lawyer as saying he has been transferred to a different penal colony in Omsk and placed in a punishment block.
