Antony Blinken: Lack of US support for Ukraine affecting war outcomes

US secretary of state Antony Blinken says there is “some evidence” that a pause in US military aid to Kyiv is having an effect on the battlefield.

Washington has run out of money for Ukraine, meaning it cannot send any more ammunition or missiles to help it fight the Russian invasion.

A further package of aid for Ukraine has been stalled for months over disagreements in Congress over the level of support for Kyiv and other domestic policies.

In a joint news conference with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Mr Blinken said he was confident Congress would “continue to have strong and bipartisan support for Ukraine”.

“There is no other magic pot of money.

“We are now currently out of the military assistance that we’ve been providing to Ukraine and we’re even seeing some evidence of what that means on the battlefield. So it is absolutely vital, absolutely urgent that we do it,” he said.
