A new suspected case of hantavirus for a British national has been reported on the island of Tristan da Cunha.
The volcanic island in the South Atlantic was one of the stops made by the MV Hondius on its cruise last month, arriving on 13 April.
It is the most remote inhabited island in the world, sitting more than 2,700km from South Africa and 3,700km from the nearest shores of South America, according to the National Geographic Society.
The island’s only major settlement is called Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, named after Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh – Queen Victoria’s second son – when he visited the island in 1867.
Some 220 British Citizens live on Tristan de Cunha, the island’s own website said.
