This is sad news for Jose Mourinho and everyone who had expected Manchester United’s management board to honor their agreement with him.
Reports confirm that the former Chelsea coach will not be taking over reigns from Louis Van Gaal. In fact, the Dutchman will not be sacked against next season as speculated. He is, and still remains Manchester United’s coach.
According to football expert Gullem Balague, ‘The Special One’ will not be at Old Trafford in the summer.
In an interesting twist of events, the Spanish football journalist Gullem Balague now claims that the English giants have decided to retain their current manager Louis Van Gaal next season.
The football expert said: “He is already preparing for next season and is eyeing Everton’s Romelu Lukaku. Will they sell? Who knows?
“One thing, I have been told, is certain. Van Gaal, as it stands in this volatile world of football, will continue as manager, fully supported by the United board, who do not take such decisions lightly. He has their confidence, let’s hope the fans can share some of their insight.”
It is a known fact that Mou has the credentials and a long history of trophies in the game of football, however, a part of the Man U boardroom is not in support of the Portuguese tactician.
Manchester United’s legends like Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson are reportedly against the idea of having the former Chelsea boss as the new head coach.
Balague said this about Mourinho’s long awaited arrival:
“And what of Mourinho? Having learnt for months that United was not a possibility even though his own people kept stating the deal was done to put pressure to Van Gaal and hoping the Manchester United board changed their mind, he has stated his intention to work next season.
“The pressure against Van Gaal from Mourinho’s camp will continue I am sure, but at Old Trafford they don’t think it will work and will change the mind of those that are against his appointment.”
