DR Luke’s mother has lashed out at Kesha, accusing her of fabricating sexual assault allegations against her producer son.
Laura Gottwald, 70, said: “She’s blackmailing him. She threatened to do it and she did it. It’s all lies.”
The strong claims come after a court ruled against the Tik Tok singer’s bid to free herself of her Sony Music contract.
She broke down in court last week as she was told she would need to fulfill her deal by making six more albums, but thanked fans for their support with a short clip of her singing this evening.
Her attorney Mark Geragos shared the 27-second video, in which she sings: “Oh I don’t know what I would do, without you, oh no / I don’t know where I would be, without you.”
Alongside the clip, he tweeted: “A special thanks to everyone who has had her back #animals”
Since the public outcry over the case, Sony has said it’s impossible to terminate her contract. She claims Dr. Luke – who has produced her biggest hits as well as chart-toppers such as Wrecking Ball and California Gurls – drugged and raped her shortly after.
He has strongly denied all the allegations made against him and took to Twitter this week to rubbish the claims.
In a series of tweets, he wrote: “I understand why people without all the information are speaking out. I can appreciate their compassion.
“But lives can get ruined when there’s a rush to judgment before all the facts come out.
“I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kesha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister.”
Names of celebrities that have pledged their support to her in the past week.
Demi Lovato, Lorde, Lady Gaga and Lily Allen are among stars to have stood up in allegiance with her, while Taylor Swift gifted her $250,000 as “a show of support during this trying time.”
Adele also publicly declared her support for the musician during her acceptance speech for the British Female Solo Artist award at the BRITs on Wednesday.
She said: “I’d like to take a quick second just to thank my management and record label for embracing the fact that I’m a woman and being encouraged by it.
“And I’d also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha. Thank you very much.”
