Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed confidence that the party’s presidential flag bearer, Peter Obi, will emerge victorious in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on the political outlook ahead of the next general election, Kwankwaso argued that growing public dissatisfaction with the current administration would translate into electoral support for the opposition. He maintained that an Obi-led ticket has widespread appeal across the country and would secure victory at the polls.

Kwankwaso also praised the collaboration within the NDC, describing the alliance as one that reflects the aspirations of many Nigerians seeking a change in leadership. According to him, the party is focused on presenting policies aimed at improving governance, strengthening the economy, tackling insecurity, and addressing the cost-of-living challenges facing citizens.

The former Kano State governor further stated that the opposition intends to build a broad-based coalition capable of attracting support from different regions of the country. He said the party remains committed to engaging Nigerians and offering what he described as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 election.

While acknowledging that the election is still some time away, Kwankwaso insisted that the NDC is optimistic about its prospects and believes Peter Obi has the support needed to defeat incumbent President Bola Tinubu if the election is conducted in a free and fair manner.

His remarks come as political parties continue consultations, coalition-building efforts, and preparations for what is expected to be a closely contested 2027 presidential race.
