North West has officially stepped into the spotlight as a solo headliner, with her famous parents watching proudly from separate corners of the audience.
The 13-year-old rapper took the stage at The Vic Theatre in Chicago’s Lakeview neighbourhood on Thursday night, marking her debut solo performance. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian both turned out to support their daughter, though they sat on opposite sides of the venue, according to Billboard.
Fan-captured footage showed the former couple arriving separately. Kardashian, founder of SKIMS, settled into the VIP section, while West—a Chicago native—filmed the performance from a balcony, nodding along to the music as his daughter commanded the stage. The SKIMS founder was seen cheering enthusiastically from her seat.
Both parents shared footage from the theatre on their Instagram Stories. “So Proud,” West captioned a video from the performance.
The concert comes about a month after North’s debut headlining tour with rapper Molly Santana was cancelled. Thursday’s show was in support of her debut EP, N0rth4evr, which was released in early May.
North also shared clips from the concert and expressed her gratitude to fans. “My first solo headlining show ily guys so much for showing love seriously means the world to me,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. “This is what I’m meant to do”.
