An 8-year-old girl has died after falling from the railing a cruise ship’s interior deck, a report from ABC News reported.
The news outlet quotes officials as saying that the deceased, a young girl whose name is yet to be released, was on the Carnival Glory cruise ship last Saturday. She fell from the interior chamber to a deck below.
Media reports confirm the cruise ship was docked at the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami on Saturday morning when the incident occurred.
Police said homicide detectives are conducting investigations on the controversial fall.
Officials from Miami’s Fire Rescue Department responded to the scene around 8:15 a.m. ET and provided emergency care to the child, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

She was subsequently taken to the nearby Ryder Trauma Center, where she died from serious injuries.
Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told ABC News the girl was in critical condition when she arrived at the hospital.
“Irresponsible parents. An 8 year old allowed to roam uncontrolled by her parents. News Alert: Cruises are not very safe for kids. No one is going to babysit your kids. It’s the parents responsibility,” wrote an angry netizen after news of the incident surfaced in the media.
A statement from Carnival Cruise Lines said the ship’s command swung to action immediately after the fall and contacted police before transporting her to the ship’s medical center.
Jennifer de la Cruz, a spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Lines said on Saturday, “Our most heartfelt care and concern is with the family at this very difficult time.”
Another concerned internet user added, “I’ve seen kids crawling and climbing on all sorts of incredibly dangerous places. One little boy was standing on the railing for the fourth floor at a hotel in Vegas and while many passers by desperately told him to get down, he refused and his mom ignored him for the phone. Luckily for the boy a man ran over and grabbed him before anything awful happened. Then the mother yelled at the man for touching her son. Augh.”
A yahoo user with the name Erica said, “Very very sad. Yet, she was old enough to know better than to climb railings–provided her parents taught her well.”
In 2013, a 27-year-old woman and her 30-year-old boyfriend fell off from a cruise ship in Australia. Their death sparked rumors that they were on a suicide mission.
May her soul rest in perfect peace!
