The UK government has announced plans to help mitigate disruption from a potential shortage of jet fuel as a result of the ongoing war on Iran.
As we’ve been telling you, the US and Israel’s war on Iran has led Tehran to effectively close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping lane which usually handles a fifth of the world’s oil and gas trade – or 21 million barrels of oil a day.
The situation has sent oil prices skyrocketing over fears of a shortage, which could also end up affecting jet fuel, and, as a consequence, commercial flights.
While the UK government stresses there are no immediate supply issues, it has announced measures aimed at minimising disruption for passengers in the coming months.
