Military analyst Sean Bell believes the 14-point peace plan put forward by Iran has “lots of elements to it but most of them are going to be completely unacceptable” to the US.
As we’ve been telling you, Donald Trump is reviewing the proposal by Tehran, which represents a counteroffer to America’s nine-point plan.
“You get this sense, actually, that this is not really an offering from an Iran that’s desperate for peace and is ready to capitulate,” Bell says about Iran’s proposal.
“It feels far more likely that the Iranians have gone, ‘President Trump, you need a deal more than we do, here’s the price you’re going to pay’.”
Number of people killed over past two months in Lebanon surpasses 2,600, health ministry says
The fighting between the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon and Israel has seen more than 2,600 people killed in the past two months.
Around a fifth of those killed were women, children and medics, Lebanon’s health ministry reports.
Its toll does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
