Flowers for Kate, visit from Australia and homage to nan – why fans are queueing at Sandringham

More from Sandringham now, reporters have caught up with the queue of royal fans hoping to get close to the King and Queen.

Sky News spoke to John Loughrey earlier who said he’s been there since 7.30pm last night.

He’s there with a bouquet of flowers for Kate, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and has since finished chemotherapy.

“It’s not been easy on Catherine and her family, so we’ve come to support that,” he said.

“And we hope we can see her today and also give these beautiful flowers.”

Nicky from Warrington said she’s there on behalf of her nan, who died earlier this year and was a “huge royalist”.

“So we’ve come really for her, because she would have loved to have seen our photo or videos that we would have took while we were here,” she said.

“She would have been so proud of us.”

Some have even come from abroad, with two tourists coming from Missouri in the US.

They find following the Royal Family “interesting” and admitted their family back home “probably don’t know we’re here this morning”.

Isabelle Element has come all the way from Brisbane, Australia, where her family are currently having a barbecue in the garden.

“They don’t think I’m mad,” she told Sky News reporters.

“We’re massive royalists, ever since I was a little girl I’ve followed the Royal Family.

“I was planning a trip to the UK anyway, but this was a big part it.”
