These images, taken in daylight, show the level of destruction across the city of Los Angeles.
A reminder that it’s nearly 11pm there now, so we’ll bring you some images as firefighters tackle the blazes for a fourth straight night when we get them.

If you’re just joining us, here’s an update on the fires:
- Palisades: At least 21,317 acres, 8% contained
- Eaton: At least 14,117 acres, 3% contained
- Hurst: At least 771 acres, 70% contained
- Lidia: At least 395 acres, 98% contained
- Kenneth: At least 1,052 acres, 50% contained
Finally a new blaze, called the Archer fire has broken out about 4km southwest of the edge of the Hurst fire. It’s only about 19 acres in size at the moment, and is 0% contained at present.
These figures are provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known as Cal Fire.
To try to put these figures into some context – 21,000 acres is an area slightly larger than the city of Derby, which is just under 20,000 acres according to the Office for National Statistics.
More than 10 dead, 150,000 evacuated
At least 11 people have been killed so far during the disaster, while thousands of buildings have been destroyed.
Five people died in the Palisades Fire, and six in the Eaton Fire.
The danger to life means authorities have been ordering sections of the city to evacuate.
The latest such order was been issued in the area of the Palisades fire a short time ago.
It covers Sunset Boulevard North to Encino Reservoir; and from the 405 Freeway West to Mandeville Canyon.
More than 153,000 residents of Los Angeles are currently under evacuation orders.
In addition, the National Guard have been called in to assist.
