‘Long way to go’ to combat wildfires, says Biden as he takes shot at Trump

There is still a “long way to go” in the battle to contain all fires in LA, President Joe Biden has said.

During a briefing at the White House, the president described the fires as the “worst in California history”.

While progress has been made, the winds fanning the flames could remain a threat for days.

He added Donald Trump’s people “know every single thing we’re doing about this response”.

But he also took an apparent shot at the president-elect, who he referred to as “someone from the other team” as he mocked his call to sweep the forest floors to reduce fire dangers.

“Come on, man,” he said.

Mr Biden said it would be a better idea to bury electricity wires, which would be “a hell of a lot safer” but cost “a hell of a lot of money” to do.
