Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced his intention to venture into the movie industry as an actor, revealing that he has already begun investing in film production.

The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, made the disclosure during a recent interview with Vibe Q, where he spoke about his growing interest in the world of cinema.

“I want to get into movies. I want to start acting soon,” Davido said. He revealed that he has already executively produced two movies and has a documentary in the pipeline, which he described as “very very big”.

“And yeah, I do want to act at some point in the future,” he added.

The ‘OBO’ crooner also reflected on the nature of his music career, likening it to technology in its constant evolution. “God has blessed me with an amazing career and fans. I wouldn’t ask for another type of career. Music is what I love and music evolves just like technology,” he said.

“There’s always a new sound, a new creative idea and a new way to tell your story,” Davido added.

The singer’s move into film comes as no surprise given the growing crossover between Nigeria’s music and film industries, with several of his contemporaries also exploring acting roles in recent years. His documentary and executive production credits suggest a serious commitment to expanding his creative footprint beyond music.
