Hate is said to be one thing that has inspired Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo in his quest to remain the best player the world has ever seen. I respect everyone’s opinion on on whether the crown should be on CR7, Messi, Zlatan or even Pele and Maradona.
It is funny that just at the time when people thought the star player had lost faith in the Spanish club, he put his mansion on sale and rumors looked real.
Haters concluded he won’t break a bone to see Real Madrid lift trophies anymore, then he struck like a thunder scoring a hat-trick against Wolfsburg to keep his club in the Champions League competition.
Turning a 2-0 deficit in CL isn’t an easy feat but it is possible only with skills, preparations, confidence, commitment and luck. Ronaldo and his team mates were at the ‘same level’ against the German club and they’re reaping the fruits right now.
This is CR7’s third hat-trick for the season. Real Madrid is now in the last four of the competition.
The Portuguese striker scored twice in the first half before netting a free kick 13 minutes from time to see his side into the last 4.
Wolfsburg supporters would blame their loss on star player Julian Draxler who couldn’t play due to injury. A lucky goal from the German side would have balanced the equation in their favor but an inability to create and utilize chances left Real Madrid to party on the pitch.
Cristiano Ronaldo had this to say after the match:
“It had to be a magic night and it was. It was the perfect game in the end.
“We had to be patient for an hour but it was the perfect night in the end.”
Ronaldo who has currently made a tally of 46 goals in all competitions this season continued:
“Goals are in my DNA and I want to keep scoring them for the team.
“Considering this has been a bad season for me it has not been that bad.
“People can criticise me, but I just keep on going and the numbers are there for all to see.
“I am very happy and with a month left of the season I can get even better.”
Excited Zidane couldn’t hide his true feeling about his star player, the team and the memorable night. He said:
“He is showing what he is, which is the best player in the world.
“Cristiano needs the whole team, I want to speak about the team because they achieved this together.
“But he is special because not everyone is capable of scoring three goals.”
“The feelings are of a job well done because it was not easy, but I am very happy and proud of what the players did tonight,” added Zidane.
“It was a special night. We achieved what we set out to do and very happy for the players because they stuck together and were phenomenal.”
Similarly, Manchester City won their match against Paris St. Germain (1-0) with a goal from Kevin de Bruyne at Etihad Stadium keeping the aggregate on 3-2.
City is now among the Champions League final 4.
