BACK TO LIFE: French entrepreneur vows to revive UK high street chain

High street chain Claire’s has been offered a route to a comeback in the UK, just days after its last stores closed, according to a new report.

The French entrepreneur behind jewellery company Une Ligne, Julien Jarjoura, told The Guardian he had the blessing of Claire’s US owner, Ames Watson, to open new shops in the UK.

About 50 stores will be reopened from June onwards under the planned revival, Jarjoura said.

Once a popular fixture of the UK high street, Claire’s entered administration in January after three decades of operation.

The chain, which was popular with teenagers and offered ear-piercing services, lost 1,000 jobs after an initial struggle to find a buyer.

But now Jarjoura has vowed to revive it.

“I feel so sad when I see such a nice business going down,” Jarjoura told the Guardian.

“The brand was basically dead and we’re bringing it back to life.”
