Tesco expands Aldi Price Match scheme to 2,000 more stores

Tesco is rolling out its Aldi Price Match scheme to more than 2,000 of its Express stores.

The move, which marks the biggest extension of the initiative since it began in 2020, means shoppers can buy a range of products matched to Aldi prices.

More than 200 products will be included in the rollout at Express stores, including penne pasta, two-pint semi-skimmed milk, iceberg lettuce and tuna chunks.

The items included in the scheme will have Tesco’s Aldi Price Match logo on shelf labels.

Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Rights Policy, said: “Tesco’s plan to expand its Aldi Price Match scheme to Express stores will be welcome news for shoppers struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

“Which? research has repeatedly shown that supermarket convenience stores can be significantly more expensive than larger branches and this can have the greatest impact on people on low incomes living in cities.

“While households struggle to make ends meet, supermarkets have an important role to play.

“They must continue to support their customers – including those who rely on pricier convenience stores – to make healthy and affordable choices.”
