We’ve just heard from US media personality James Matthews to hear his thoughts on Donald Trump’s various social media posts and comments to media outlets throughout the last few hours.

He says the US president’s expletive-laden warning to Iran are “surely the words of somebody who is losing the argument”.

“If that posting is a reflection of his state of mind going into this, it sounds unhinged.”

Matthews also says Trump’s suggestions to media outlets that there’s a “good chance” of Iran making a deal by tomorrow sit in stark contrast to his earlier messaging.

“Quite how the two of those social media postings sit together is quite the mystery. Not for the first time in this conflict.”
