Amazon’s Houston warehouse now equipped with robotic system to boost sales

Amazon.com has announced the launch of a robotic system known as “Sequoia,” at one of its Houston warehouses.

The move aims to improve inventory management and speed up deliveries, in line with the company’s belief that automation will help boost sales and workers’ safety.

Sequoia utilizes a series of systems, including mobile robots and robotic arms, to help identify and store inventory 75 percent faster while reducing the processing time for orders at warehouses by some 25 percent.

For many years, Amazon invested heavily in automation, including in systems that help package orders and enable cashier-less sales at retail stores.
