American actor Alan Ritchson, 43, and his wife Catherine Ritchson, 42, have announced the end of their marriage after 20 years. The pair, who were high school sweethearts, say they continue to hold “love and respect” for one another, with their primary focus now on co-parenting their three sons: Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and 10-year-old Amory.

In a joint statement shared on Instagram on Sunday (Sep 13), the former couple said: “After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way.

“We grew up together. We built a life and family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the centre of our world.

“Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us – or the love and respect we will always share.

“The best gift we can give one another – and our boys – right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be.”

The Reacher star and the financial analyst wish to navigate their new lives as single people and co-parents away from the public eye.

They added: “We also want to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming.

“Change is hard enough without the world weighing in. We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion.”

They concluded: “Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority – Cat and Alan.”

According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, the War Machine actor filed for divorce from Catherine Ritchson on Dec 1, 2025, citing “irreconcilable differences”, before the couple reconciled on Mar 4 this year.

The two first dated after meeting in a ballet class in Florida; he was 17 and she was 16. On a 2023 episode of The Road to Wisdom podcast, Catherine Ritchson remembered: “I’ll never forget seeing him for the first time in the [dance] studio. I turned to my friend Miriam, and I said, ‘Who is that?’

“He, at some point, came up to me and we just got chatting.”

Years after their brief teenage romance ended, the two reconnected when she was in college. They got engaged in 2005 and married the following May.
