Ousmane Dembele’s situation at Barcelona has changed.
Xavi included the French professional footballer in the Barcelona squad to face Atletico Madrid, and the Spaniard says not doing so would be potentially shooting themselves in the foot.
“We met with the president, the sports staff, and the board to find another solution,” said Xavi.
“I did not decide anything unilaterally, we are family and we are in the same boat. The same way a month ago we decided one thing, now we’ve thought about what the best decision for the club is. What we won’t do is shoot ourselves in the foot.
“He’s a good professional and his commitment is undoubtable, when he has played or not played, a few minutes or 120. Now he is another one of the squad and I’ll use him as I see fit.”
“I understand the club’s position, the player’s and the fans, but it’s time to close ranks and be united. We have to be selfish and think about the best for Barcelona and take advantage of his talent because he can give us a lot. I know some fans are hurting but it’s the moment to think about the the team and I’d like them to support Ousmane.”
