2 Players to replace Erling Haaland if he snubs Barcelona

Barcelona are working on reinforcing the squad in the summer and while Erling Haaland is the main transfer target, he is craved by half of Europe.

However, there are other names on the list if the Catalans can’t get their Norwegian target for a “hitman” role.

Per ESPN’s Sam Marsden, Barcelona are looking at these players – Alexander Isak, Antony and Lisandro Martinez.

Isak reportedly held talks with Barcelona in the summer of 2021 and preferred a move to Camp Nou to a transfer to the Premier League. He was linked with a move to the Arsenal in the summer of 2021 as well.

At 22, just a year older than Haaland, Isak has shown his strength in LaLiga with Real Sociedad, who reached the top of the table in last October with victory over Mallorca. He has struggled to score this season due to a hamstring injury, having scored 36 goals for Sociedad since joining from Borussia Dortmund.

A potential move could occur as Barcelona made room in their wage budget, moving on the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi and Miralem Pjanic.

Antony, at Ajax, is a promising youngster. While Lisandro would be an option to reinforce Barcelona’s defence line, Anthony provides a reliable replacement if they decide to spread the money around–especially in the absence of Haaland.

However, Anthony is generating some doubts within Barcelona over whether the 21-year-old is ready to play at the top level. The Brazilian winger caught the attention of a number of Europe’s top clubs thanks to his exhilarating displays for Ajax.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona have begun negotiations with Antony’s representatives over a potential move to the Camp Nou next summer. The Catalan giants are likely to face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Juventus for his signature.

Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in the summer of 2020 in a deal worth £13 million. The Brazilian instantly became an integral member of the Dutch club’s starting line-up last season.

He went on to make 46 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and contributing 10 assists. Antony also helped Ajax win the Eredivise and KNVB Cup last season.

The Brazilian has gone from strength to strength this season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 19 appearances in all competitions for Erik Ten Haag’s side. His performances have helped propel Ajax to second place in the Eredivise table, one point behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Antony’s incredible performances in the Champions League group stage have attracted the attention of Barcelona. The 21-year-old scored two goals and provided four assists in five group games this season. His displays helped Ajax finish top of Group C of the Champions League.
